Subject Categories

The track subject categories listed below are the general headings under which abstracts will be reviewed. Abstracts that are accepted will be published by title and summarized in the conference program book. When submitting your abstract, you should choose the abstract track subject category that best describes the abstract, e.g., A3 - Biology of HIV Transmission. You may select a first and a second choice.

A. Basic Prevention Research
This track will focus on formative research delineating the biological, behavioral, and social factors and contexts that influence HIV transmission or protection and thus inform the development of HIV prevention interventions.
B. Surveillance and Epidemiology
This track will focus on HIV/AIDS, STD, and behavioral surveillance and epidemiological methods in support of HIV/AIDS research, program, and policy.
C. Advances in HIV Prevention
This track will focus on research dealing with a broad range of experimental and quasi-experimental interventions to prevent HIV transmission including behavioral, social, and biomedical approaches.
D. Program Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation
This track addresses critical issues in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of effective and sustainable HIV prevention programs including dissemination of best practices and model programs, development of prevention capacity, and scaling-up efforts.
E. HIV Prevention Policy
This track is designed to address public policy challenges and solutions as they relate to HIV prevention efforts.
F. HIV Prevention and Treatment Interface
This track will focus on the various issues related to the interface between HIV prevention and HIV care and treatment programs.
G. Program Collaboration and Service Integration
This track will focus on opportunities, challenges, and models of integrating HIV prevention messages and strategies with other public health programs (e.g., STD, TB, hepatitis, substance abuse, and corrections).
